Briefly about the tour
A period when Kaunas was a medieval city of merchants and craftsmen. We walk around Old Town and recount the history of the development of the only Hanseatic city in Lithuania.
A period when our city was part of the Russian Empire. The story is about the period between the 18th and 20th centuries when Kaunas was the centre of the Kovno Governorate and, since 1879, had become a fortress – a defense city. We can visit one of the nine forts built at that time if you wish.
A period of the Temporary capital (1919-1939), when the city's territory grew threefold, and 12 thousand buildings were built. Some of these buildings are inscribed on the UNESCO Heritage List. We walk around the New Town and/or Žaliakalnis
