A 1-hour tour of Kaunas Old Town awaits you. After it - up to 1.5 hours of tasting at the restaurant "Antis rūsy" (Rotušės a. 1, Kaunas), listening to a story about Lithuanian cuisine of the 13th-18th centuries. The tasting "LDK cuisine" reveals what Lithuanian rulers, nobles, townspeople and peasants ate and drank. Kaunas Castle is one of the oldest brick defensive castles in Lithuania. It is believed that the dukes of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania used to stay here.
Kaunas was famous for its trade and crafts in the Middle Ages. It is the only Hanseatic city in Lithuania!
It was also a city of fun - in 1570, out of 416 houses, as many as 188 houses paid tavern tax!
