The centennial Lithuanian Song Celebration 2024, which united everyone’s hearts, ended with the final concert, “May the Green Forest Grow,” on the evening of 6 July 2024.

It was the most prominent cultural event that brought together the best forces of people working in culture. It allowed us to look at our cultural heritage anew with the most tremendous respect and dignity. A few of the interesting facts:

– 14 events took place during the Celebration week.

– The Song Celebration was opened in Kaunas Song Valley, where almost 4000 performers, including choir members and dancers, attended. They performed pieces that connected the Song Celebration’s history with its present.

– Ensembles Evening “The Tree of Life” is one of the most significant events of the centennial Lithuanian Song Celebration. Thousands of performers embodied four elements: a choir, a folk instrument orchestra, and a stylised folk dance group.

– More than 9000 performers participated in the Dance Day “Through The Bridges of Ages”!

– Almost 40 thousand people participated in the Centennial Song Celebration!!! Of course, the number of people participating was enchanting and gave everyone unbelievable energy. But the most important part – people’s faces emanated happiness, strong will, unity, and pride in their heritage. This strength is our future!

A big thank you to the creative group of the Song Celebration!!! It was unbelievably beautiful and touching!

In 2008, the Baltic Song and Dance Celebrations were inscribed onto the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. The traditional Lithuanian Song Celebration has no analogues around the world.
