It is not a tour. It is a visit to Colonel Dominykas Grabys and his family, who lived in Panemunė (part of Kaunas city) during the interwar.
During the interwar, war Engineer Colonel Dominykas Grabys and his family lived in Panemunė – the temporary capital neighbourhood of rich villas and military officers. He was the first and the last head of the Linkaičiai weapons workshop, and in 1933, he was awarded the medal of GDL (DLK) Gediminas Order of 3rd degree and a medal of the 10th anniversary of the Lithuanian Independence.
D. Grabys was a famous state and public figure. Today, after almost one hundred years, his great-grandchildren opened their homes to us in honour of their great-grandfather. The villa is named after their grandmother, “Grabytė,” and it is one of the most luxurious Art Deco villas in Kaunas.
During the tour, you will take a 40-minute walk around Panemunė and have a cosy visit at the villa “Grabytė”. While drinking tea, tasting homemade butter biscuits, and the best krupnik, you will hear stories about the intelligentsia of independent Lithuania and their lives. Not only will we get to touch the authentic Grabys family heirlooms, but their stories will also touch our hearts.
